Nestled just a few miles outside the village of Highlands, NC, at an elevation of over 4,000 feet, Fire Mountain is a secluded mountaintop boutique resort high above the clouds. Our accommodations include:

• Highlands Lodge: All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms & private balconies with spectacular views.

• The Manor House: A four-bedroom (All en-suite) residence with expansive balconies and breathtaking views.

• Six Luxury Mountaintop Gypsy Creek Cabins with fireplaces.​

 

Dining and Amenities

Because of our location, centrally located between 4 major scenic mountain towns with amazing restaurants, shopping, activities and entertainment, you have unlimited choices available within a 5-20 min drive. Hiking, fishing, boating, gem mining, etc. are available in Highlands, Dillard, Clayton & Franklin. Everything so close, yet a world away in our secluded enclave.

 

At the heart of our property sits Cloud 7 Private Club & White Horse Lounge, that is available to host your special event.  One of our crown jewels with expansive decks, a reflection pool with waterfall and awe-inspiring views that stretch over 50 miles and across three states. The sunset deck is open to all of our guests unless there is a private event.

Surrounded by forest, waterfalls, wildflowers, and sweeping views across Blue Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains, the property feels wonderfully secluded while remaining close to some of the region’s most charming towns and attractions.

Settle in and get comfortable in one of our distinctive accommodations. Gather with family and friends in the seven-bedroom Highlands Lodge, enjoy the spacious four-bedroom Manor House, or retreat to one of six private cabins nestled among the trees. The cabins encircle an oversized native-stone firepit, creating an inviting gathering place for evenings spent under the stars and surrounded by fireflies.

Days at Fire Mountain can be as peaceful or as adventurous as you choose. Explore our hiking trails, wander along Gypsy Creek, discover the property’s secret waterfall, or spend a quiet afternoon fishing by the lake and waterfall. Visit with our Gypsy horses, Drake & Hagrid, pick apples in our small orchard, Search for native stones while rock hounding, watch the sunset from the Sunset Deck, or simply relax and take in mountain views that stretch for hundreds of miles.

Guests can gather for cocktails and conversation on the Sunset deck, enjoy the tennis courts, or host an unforgettable celebration in one of the property’s event spaces. In the land of waterfalls, nearby waterfalls, include Mud Creek Falls, Darnell Falls & our secret waterfall that are just minutes away.

Throw some burgers on the grill while you enjoy the flicker of fireflies in the surrounding forest in our newly constructed BBQ area or on your own private grill if you’re a cabin guest.

For a little more adventure

 

Visit Highlands Aerial Park for ziplining and ATV waterfall tours, head to Highlands Outpost for trout fishing, the mountain roller coaster, and the giant mountain slide, head next door for an afternoon of music & libations at the Vinyard at High holly or enjoy a round of golf at nearby Sky Valley. Just down the mountain is Julep farms, a cute farm with beautiful vistas & interesting farm animals that include highlands cows which resemble small buffalo. They also feature an elegant restaurant, Bar and gift shop.

Highlands, North Carolina

Highlands is a charming mountain town known for its walkable Main Street, locally owned boutiques, galleries, home décor shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. Nature lovers can hike to scenic overlooks or explore nearby waterfalls such as Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Glen Falls. For a more adventurous day, visit Highlands Aerial Park for ziplining through the treetops and guided ATV waterfall tours, or head to Highlands Outpost for trout fishing and family-friendly mountain attractions, including its mountain coaster and giant slide.

Clayton, Georgia

​

Clayton offers a lively small-town atmosphere with restaurants, specialty shops, galleries, antiques, and access to the outdoor attractions of Rabun County. Spend the day exploring nearby waterfalls, wineries, mountain lakes, and hiking trails, or venture to Black Rock Mountain State Park and Tallulah Gorge State Park for dramatic scenery. Guests looking for a little more excitement can enjoy guided whitewater rafting or kayaking on the Chattooga River. Nearby Mud Creek Falls and Darnell Falls also make beautiful additions to a day of waterfall exploring.

Franklin, North Carolina

Franklin is an inviting mountain town with a historic downtown, local restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, museums, and seasonal live music. Known for its gem-mining heritage, Franklin is an especially fun destination for rock hounds and families who want to search for rubies, sapphires, garnets, and other native stones. Outdoor enthusiasts can visit Wayah Bald for panoramic views, explore nearby waterfalls, walk along the Little Tennessee River Greenway, or hike sections of the Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail.

 

 

Sky Valley, Georgia

Just beyond the property, Sky Valley offers a scenic mountain golf experience for guests who want to spend an afternoon on the course before returning to the peaceful seclusion of Fire Mountain Lodge & Club.
